Initiative in Rememberance of Oury Jalloh: Press Conference

Oury Jalloh

Dear activists and friends, we are the Initiative in Rememberance of Oury Jalloh which is placed in Germany. Oury Jalloh was a refugee from Sierra Leone and he burnt alive in a German police cell in Dessau in 2005 while his hands and feeds were tied to a mattress.

From the beginning the police alleged that Oury Jalloh was able to light the mattress by himself but police and the Ministry of Inner Affairs – which was involved in that case - never did fire investigations which could explain how it was possible to light the mattress at all. During last years we were struggling at different courts but also the judicary of the Sachsen – Anhalt (district of Germany) was not willing to find out the truth about the death of Oury Jalloh.

Sachsen-Anhalt is well known for racist attacks by neo-nazis.
Statistically every 3rd day one person got physically attacked by them and there is a hightamount of well organized neo – nazi groups. In the last 20 years 13 people were killed by neo – nazis only in district Sachsen – Anhalt.

There are also strong evidences that even high police and politicians are connected to lokal or international neo-nazi organziations. In Dessau, the place where Oury Jalloh burnt, the police was very famous for their racist behaviour against refugees.

On the 12th of November we organize a press conference in Germany/Berlin. On this day we want to publish the results of the fire investigations which will show that the allegation Oury Jalloh set fire to himself is not sustainable.

This means, that Oury Jalloh was murdered by police!

The case of Oury Jalloh caused national and international outrage.

On the 12th of November 2013 we puplish also a press release which we send to media and activists in all European countries and abroad. Please help to spread the message in your country. Inform the press or do any actions.

We are fighting for the truth - againct racism and police brutality!

Oury Jalloh – That was Murder!

In Solidarity
