Excluded, swapped out and exposed – living conditions of asylum-seeking women in Germany

Speech and discussion with Women in Exile & Friends

Saturday, 13.12., 18-20pm, Zeppelinstraße 1 (ZEP)*

Replaced and shoved around all over Europe, put up in accommodation centres (“Sammelunterkünfte”), often far away from any infrastructure, vouchers, ban from working, a daily struggle for sufficient medical treatment, always fearing deportation – and on top of all that: the sexism which every women experiences. Refugee women can tell from their day to day experience that they do not feel save as asylum-seekers in Germany.

In the summer of 2014, Women in Exile & Friends were travelling with their floating demonstration on rafts from Nuremberg to Berlin to fight for better living conditions for asylum-seeking women in Germany.

Through talks, discussions and visits of numerous camps (“Lager”), a documentation of the situation of refugee women in Germany was created.

We will talk about our protest and demonstration-tour and we want to discuss the outcomes of it with you.
