Gambia Armed Forces is seeking Legal advice from the Attorney General on the issue of a group of soldiers who are currently detained at the Yundum Barracks. According the Military spokesperson, the matter of the detained soldiers would be handled soon.

‘‘The GAF is in consultation with relevant stakeholders, specifically the AG Chambers, for advice regarding the matter of the detained soldiers and this would be handled in due cause,’’ he said.
When asked whether the arrested, detained and accused soldiers would be arraigned in court, Lt. Col. Omar B. Bojang said they have completed their investigations and had already sent the report to the Justice Minister, who now has to give them advice.
Some family members of the detained soldiers demand the immediate release of their loved ones, whilst others accused them of abduction, disappearance and killings. During the reigns of former president Jammeh, his government was accused with disappearances without trace, torture and alleged killings.
It would be recalled that 10 soldiers were arrested and detained for more 72 hours and some have confessed to the killing and burial of innocent Gambians, during the 22 year rule of former President Jammeh, especially staff Sergeant Amadou Badjie, who told police investigators that he had participated in the summary execution and burial of Lance Corporal Tumani Jallow and one businessman Abdoulie aka Abdou Gaye.
